Longrain opened the doors of a 100-year-old converted warehouse-style building in 2005, offering scrumptious blend of Thai and Southern Chinese influenced cuisine in Melbourne. With the vivid memory of its hot and sour prawn dish for Melbourne's Look.Stop.Taste food festival still on my palate, I caught up with Natasha Firman to find out what the restaurant had in store for Christmas.

The long and round communal tables in this contemporary restaurant will enable customers to dine in Xmas banquet style. Executive chef Martin Boetz has designed a banquet menu with generous main-dish portions perfect for sharing among 4 people or larger groups for Christmas celebrations.

Priced at AUD65 per person based on 4 or more people, the menu features a selection of Chef Martin's culinary delights:

Caramelised prawn, eschalots, chicken, pork and sour pineapple

Freshly shucked oyster, red chilli, lime juice and crisp eschalots

Filled eggnet, pork, prawns, peanuts, caramelised coconut and cucumber relish

Green curry with grass fed beef OR Sour orange curry with blue cod

Caramelised pork hock, five spice and chilli vinegar

Steamed Chinese broccoli and oyster sauce

Jasmine & organic brown rice

Black rice, vanilla tapioca and custard apple cream

Additional dishes can be added to Chef Martin's Xmas banquet menu at AUD10 per person per item including:

Whole fried fish, chilli, lime and roasted rice

Twice cooked duck, sweet fish sauce, crisp eschalots, garlic and chilli

Grilled Angus beef, Vietnamese mint, chilli jam and roasted rice
