Need a new lunch destination?
In Anzac Square arcade, there is a hidden gem that I like to go to for a quick and cheap lunch. Xin Shang Noodles (I read somewhere that it was formerly Jackpot Noodles) is a simple set up but delivers fresh and tasty Chinese cuisine for under $10 a meal.
The menu is simple (and is very similar to that of Jackpot) and tempts you with its pictures and descriptions of plum pork strips, prawn sesame toast and wonton soups.
My favourite meal here is the soy steamed chicken with rice and vegetables, although lately I have been ordering this with a spring roll. Add a drink and you have a cheap and tasty lunch.
The meals are reasonably healthy (if you go with steamed chicken or have a naughty meal but add a side of vegetables) and are always fresh in presentation and taste. As they are always busy, you know that is always a high turnover of food, as opposed to meals sitting there for an hour or so before being served.
If you're looking for a quick, tasty place to stop in for lunch, I would definitely recommend Xin Shang Noodles!
