Cause X (and Y) is for X & Y Bar
X & Y Bar opened in 2009 and has hosted lots of live music; big names and local acts, as well as a bevy of DJs, international, interstate and local.
Their website tells the world where music is at the heart of the venue, and with an aim and goal of "seven nights of sound", there is a real dedication to emerging talent. With reference to the building and decor, I particularly love the way they say that "2009 technology has been submerged beneath a 1960s and 70s anti-establishment theme".
Personally, I've seen alt-country, acoustic singer / songwriter, dirty blues / rock, funk, hip-hop and rock at this venue. The venue has a very modern, industrial feel, with exposed concrete flooring and chain mail fence dividing areas. The area directly in front of the stage is small, which means it gets packed, and there's a narrow line-of-sight through the bar area, but it adds to the atmosphere on a busy night.
You can like X & Y Bar on Facebook here and sign up for their enewsletter here. Get along to see live music there soon!
