The restored makes for a great day trip or a stop off on your way north on the M2 (it's approximately 5 minutes each way off the motorway). I headed there whilst meeting a friend from the Central Coast and with two kids in tow it was the perfect meeting spot.

The factory was built in 1888 and has been given a new lease on life as an eclectic complex of business including a gym. The factory has a fascinating history - read more about it here .

First stop for us was the Cafe to stock up on coffee. The Cafe is kid and adult friendly with a full cafe menu, including kids options. Coffee sizes included a mug (yes, please!) and there was a good selection of sweet treats too. The cafe has various seating options - inside, outside and even on top of the roof. For the grown-ups among us, there is also a wine menu, and Friday to Sunday you can order wood fired pizzas.

To the relief of fellow diners we decided to head across to the playground (and cheekily took our mugs with us!). The sweet as pie playground is fully enclosed and includes swings, two cubby houses, a slide, pirate rowboat and undercover seating for parents. There is also a patch of grass where one could lay down a rug if one chose to!

After spending some time at the playground we went for a wander around the complex. Here you will find award-winning Little Creek Cheese and yoghurt, Luka Chocolate Factory (where you can also get coffee and sweet treats including easter eggs) and All Sorts Fitness Centre. Also in the complex are Central Coast Woodturners, Coast & Valley Vets, Olivers Real Food (not a functioning restaurant) and Central Coast Post-School Options.

At the end of the complex is the river and weir. The area has been done up nicely with a bbq, fire pit, reclining chairs and you can even hire kayaks/row boats (please book in advance through the gym). At this end of the complex is also the gym - which is housed in a beautiful industrial building which is also available for hire for functions.

Entry to the is FREE and they are open daily. The cafe is open Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm and Saturday and Sunday 8.00am to 4.00pm. Check with other retailers on their opening hours.

Find them at 141 Alison Road, Wyong NSW 2259. There is plenty of parking including disabled spots right out the front of the cafe.
