A Bayside school will be converted into a Wonderland at the Wynnum State Fair on 29 August. Organisers have embraced the credo 'fun for the whole family' with a host of activities to suit every age.
Children will love Sideshow Alley and Amusement Lane, offering gentle amusements like jumping castles and giant slides for young children and the Gravitron, zorb balls and other exhilarating rides for older children. A Wonderpass can be purchased for $20 for preschool children and $40 for older children. Big kids aren't left out – adults can enjoy rides for free when accompanying a child.
Adults will be equally amused with a huge range of entertainment on offer. The Performance Stage will host a diverse range of acts, from ballet to hip hop, choral to rockabilly and Dixieland banjo to drum corps. Rev heads can check out classic Holdens thanks to the FX-FJ Holden Car Club QLD or channel their inner Michael J Fox in a DeLorean. If arts and crafts are more your thing, there will be a spray can artist and the Bayside Woodturners and Woodcrafting Club with live demonstrations.
Traditionalists can still enjoy all the usual fete stalls – the CWA Cake and Sweet Stall, lucky bottles, cent auctions, chocolate wheel and second hand books, just to name a few. And if all that fair fun has left you peckish, grab yourself a pizza, potato on a stick, something from Dippin' Dots, or just sit back with a gourmet iced tea.
