Swing and Sway the Manly Way on Father's Day
Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival - a great day out for the family
Father's Day is just around the corner, and if you haven't organised anything yet, you'd better hop to it. Fortunately free entertainment that's just right for the discerning Dad can be easily found at the Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival. An annual event on Father's Day, the festival is a wonderful day of entertainment for the entire family, not just Dad.
The Big Band from the Royal Australian Navy will perform from 12 - 1pm
If you don't want to pack your own picnic hamper, there will be a variety of food trucks and drink stalls. On the menu are Wood-fired Pizzas, Gourmet Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and Salad Rolls, The Outback Diner and Ice-Cream - something to suit every Dad's taste. To wash it down there will be Tea & Coffee and Slushies. The kids are also well catered for, with plenty of entertainment in the form of jumping castles, fairy floss and laughing clowns. You can also pop across to nearby George Clayton Park, just behind the bandstand for slippery slides, swings and climbing frames.
The Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival takes place in the bandstand in Park below Gordon Parade. With views overlooking the bay, there's no better spot to spend a Sunday afternoon. Parking is available in local streets, but is often at premium, so arrive early if you don't want to walk too far. The day starts at 10:45 and concludes at 4:45, so there's time for Brekkie in Bed for Dad beforehand, or perhaps breakfast at The Lighthouse Restaurant or Manly Deck and Bar. For more information, please check the Website. In case of wet weather, listen to 100.3 BayFM. If packing your own picnic, remember not to bring any glass with you.
