Take a breath of fresh air and indulge in this stunning dam
An early morning stroll surrounded by sensational views.

For those of you who don't know about Wynn Vale Dam it is a well hidden beauty in Adelaide. Wynn Vale Dam is my local. I quite often take my kids there and have not yet failed to appreciate the beauty of this place. It is an absolute unique wetland area which is located at 'Park Lake Drive Wynn Vale'.

This dam is a popular spot for the locals who quite often spend hours on end here enjoying the peace and nature that surrounds it.

You must bring your kids here. The ducks are in abundance so bring a loaf of bread or two as these ducks are so friendly and will quack their way straight to you. Your kids will be absolutely fascinated as some of the ducks will eat straight from your hand.

Take a walk on the newly built boardwalk and really take in this gorgeous site.

If you are keen to fish then bring yourself a chair, some lunch and of course your fishing rod. Make yourself comfortable and relax. Quite often you will catch yourself some carp and redfin. You may also come accross some fresh water yabbies, catfish, goldfish, murray cod, silver perch, and various kinds of frogs, all of these have been known to be living in the dam.

As you continue walking along not only will you enjoy the pleasant atmosphere here but you will make your way to the local horses, who are always more than happy to meet you at the fence. Bring some carrots or apples and the kids will be beside themselves as the horses love a feed and a well deserved pat.

Not far from the horses you will see a wonderful display of water from a fountain.Unfortunately this fountain is on more often on warmer days as it helps keep the dam water healthy through aeration, so it is not a definate that you will see it on the day you come. However it is just another great attraction this dam has to offer.

The playground is about half way around the dam and is the perfect stop for a break. Enjoy a snack or some lunch and let the kids have a play before continuing your way around.

From the playground it is a continuous walk of nature. To walk around the whole dam can take you as little as 20 minutes or with kids, if you stop and indulge in the delightful scenery and take the time to appreciate everything this place has to offer, it can take anywhere from 1-2hrs. This location does not disappoint.

Please don't feed bread to ducks. Native animals have specialised diets. Processed foods, such as bread, do not provide appropriate nutrition for native animals. They also contain additives which can cause serious health problems or even death.

Hi there people,
I did a quick google on the dam and it says they were proposing making fishing the dam legal. Did this ever happen?? I'm looking for freshwater fishing somewhere close to the CBD (that's not the torrens).
