Forget the clubs, this Brisbane Festival season take your fine selves to QPAC's in South Bank for a night out. Trust me, it has a lot more to offer you then over priced drinks, couple grinding that gets a bit too close and bloody noses. If you are a little older than the typical clubbing scene, this event is still definitely for you too. And to really get you flocking, it is blissfully free.

On your program will be bands, dancers and DJ's producing saucy rhythms to keep you moving well into the night despite the ache in your feet. Ladies, avoid heels (I know they are pretty) if you intend to go a bit wild. And why would you not be a bit wild? However, feel free just to chill out on the nights of smooth beats. There are also late night food options (probably not free) to refuel your exhausted but happy bodies. A dinner date in South Bank before you venture over does not sound like a bad idea either.

Opening night is the 7th of September from 8:30pm where Deni Hines and the Band will set the tone for the month. Hines is a solo R&B artist from the 1990's and the daughter of Marcia Hines. The 7th will be a night to dance and get loose for the weekend and rejuvenate for the coming work week. If R&B is not your thing, there are an assortment of other artists seeking your dance moves on other nights.

Let us explore the lineup that boasts of international and Australian artists. To break up the potential hum drum of the work week performances will occur on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as Saturdays. On Wednesday the 11th, Classic Nawu , Linta J, Darky Roots will get their time on the stage and thumping through your veins. Darky Roots is a chilled out reggae band with a great groove. Their song Night Time immediately makes me sway. This is not your typical weeknight.

The 12th will give audience to Calibre Cats (an eight pieces neo swing band that induces you with energy) and come groove to Locura on the superstition night of Friday the 13th. Hey Geronimo will ignite you on September 14th. A Triple J band, Hey Geronimo are young, high energy and have a comical sense humour. The 15th will bring you Dubmarine who have a reputation of unforgettable live performances. Their music has elements of several genres including pop, reggae and dance hall. The 19th plays favourites with Soul Continuum . The Good Ship are a fun band that docks into the harbor on the 21st of September. Quique Neira shimmies in on the 20th of September and makes me wonder why I do not listen to more reggae. Just do not expect English lyrics that Friday. Instead be carried away on Spanish and drum beats. TaikoDeck brings their unique (at least on the mainstream) sound to the 25th. They are a mixture of Australia's leading taiko drumming group and DJ/Producer, DJ M-Royce. A combination of East and West that belongs in a recipe book. Instruments include: traditional Japanese bamboo flutes, bells, gongs and cymbals that helps create an intriguing performance for the eyes as well as ears.

The 26th is home to Noah Slee & the Backyard Jam . Pocket Love with Sharon Brooks comes to the stage on the 27th. To end our month of rhythm, dancing and make up streaking sweat is Chukale with the Brazilian Dancers on the 27th. This will be a fun and vibrant closer with salacious visual displays. All of these bands and acts send impulses throughout your body making it impossible not to dance. Be prepared for a great night out.

is live and open from September 7th to the 28th, Wednesday to Saturday nights from 8:30pm until late (taxi late). Bands start up at 9:00pm each night. Have you got your dancing shoes ready?
