Wunder bar serves up free live music this September
Returning this year as part of Brisbane Festival is the Wunder Bar, serving up free live music in QPAC's forecourt at Southbank. The fun starts Wednesday 12 September and runs Wednesday through Saturday, for three weeks until 29 September.
Last year, friends could have accused me of living down here, and between the City of Lights display and all the free entertainment in the Southbank precinct, they were almost right. This year we'll be entertained by many different genres, including world music, soul, reggae, funk and salsa. The music starts around 8:30pm, there's food and drink available, and it's recommended to arrive early if you want to secure seats.
Highlights will include Melbourne soul band Saskwatch on Saturday 15 September, flamenco fusion performed by Gerard Mapstone with DeLaCaña on Thursday 20 September, the nine-piece James Morrison Funk Show on Saturday 22 September and don't miss the salsa dancers enjoying Chukale on the closing night, Saturday 29 September.
While you're in the area, enjoy the free Santos GLNG City of Lights spectacle over the Brisbane River (7:00pm and 8:30pm Sunday though Thursday; 7pm, 8pm and 9pm Friday / Saturday) as well as Golden Casket Light Sphere.
