Galleon Theatre Group (GTG) kicks off its stellar 2025 season with Wrong Turn at Lungfish, written by America's leading scriptwriters Garry Marshall (Happy Days, Pretty Woman) and Lowell Ganz (A League of Their Own, Parenthood) and directed by Rosie Aust. Tickets are now on sale for this strictly limited season.

Wrong Turn at Lungfish is a critically acclaimed play that proves it is never too late to learn something new - even from the most unexpected people. The original Off-Broadway 1993 cast included George C. Scott, Tony Danza, Jami Gertz and Kelli Williams.

GTG is thrilled to stage this popular play for Adelaide theatre lovers with a stellar local cast comprising Tony Busch, Dora Stamos, Wade Cook and Tianna Cooper.

Set in a New York City hospital, Wrong Turn at Lungfish explores death, mortality, connection and the search for meaning in life through the interactions of Peter Ravenswaal, a blind, bitter and widowed college professor, and Anita, a saucy, street-wise young woman who volunteers to read to him in the hospital.

He's irascible and ill-mannered; she's uneducated but resilient; she's a superstitious Catholic, he's a supercilious Protestant.

He's a widower facing death alone, she's the mistreated lover of a low-rent mob enforcer named Dominic.

By the end of the play, the clash of intellect and wit takes the two from animosity and fear to friendship and understanding.

The title refers to an evolutionary hypothesis that man's path from bug to beast wasn't about developing the most sophisticated survival equipment; his development was simply the product of "a wrong turn at the lungfish."

Funny, heartfelt, and filled with wisdom, Wrong Turn at Lungfish is a must-see for those who know that sometimes, life’s best lessons come from unlikely places!

Wrong Turn at Lungfish will be performed at the Domain Theatre at Marion Cultural Centre from 2 - 10 May 2025.
