Would You Eat Worms at PUBLIC. Restaurant & Bar?
Do you consider yourself a foodie? Well, consider this .. Would you order a can of worms? Yep, that's right a little can filled with mealworms ... We did!
A trip to
Public - an award winning restaurant and bar located on the corner of Turbot and George Streets in Brisbane's CBD.
The menu is fun, social and .... daring, and designed to share.
This looks harmless enough doesn't it?
But when you flip the lid .... it's a whole other story
So, the verdict?
Well, once I got over the fact that I WAS EATING WORMS, they were quite pleasant. They were paired with some asian flavours and the worms themselves were crunchy with a nutty flavour. So, yes, quite nice, but I am not sure I am desperate to go back for seconds.
What else is on offer?
Can't quite stomach the thought of worms in your diets? Well, have no fear because they have lots more on offer. Some personal recommendations are:
- KFD – Kentucky Fried Duck
- Beans, Goats Curd and Almonds
- Bone Marrow, Wagyu, Radish
- Saltbush Lamb, Potato, Carrot
But with lots on offer (prices ranging from $ 8 - $80) you can go back again and again and again.
The cocktail and
wine list is quite nice too. But I will leave you to ponder over that yourself.
How good are they?
- Winner of "Best New Restaurant" and awarded "One Chefs Hat"
Queensland Good Food Guide Awards 2012/2013
- Winner of 'Best Bar Food' – Australian Bar Awards 2013/2014
