Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk is the world's largest photo walk. It was announced that it's all set to happen again for the sixth consecutive year on Saturday the 5th of October 2013.
It's free, it's fun, and it's huge - globally huge. Last year there were walks held in more than 1300 cities across the globe with more than 30 000 photographers out and about snapping, all on the same day.
According to Scott Kelby; "A photo walk is a social photography event where photographers get together in any public area to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers."

The official Photo Walk day is Saturday 5th October 2013
Taking part is 100% free. Anyone and everyone are welcome to join in.
There are prizes to be won. A photo is selected as the winner from each Photo Walk and will win Lightroom 5 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby. The winning photos are then submitted into the pool of Walk winners from around the world. From those, 10 photos are selected as finalists and go into the running to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes, including the yet to be released Canon EOS 70D DSLR, Wacom tablets, Westcott lights, ThinkTank camera bags, photo gift cards and much more.
Scott Kelby also chooses one photo as the Grand Prize winner and there's a People's Choice award too.
This year, in a Photo Walk first, there's a video competition. While on the walk, create a video and one person will win a great prize from Canon.
There are already walks in cities (including Adelaide) that are open and currently taking registrations. Registrations per walk are limited to 50, so get your name in or risk the chance of missing out.
Can't see a walk in your area? No problem - become a Walk Leader. All the information on how to lead a walk is on the Photo Walk website.
Most walks end at a cafe or similar where everyone can hang out and chat about what they saw and shot.
To find and register for a photo walk in your area, simply go to the Photo Walk website, click on find walks at the top right of the webpage, type in your city or area, and the walks currently listed will be shown in blue. If you can't see a walk in your area or if you want to create an additional walk to an already existing one, you can create your own and invite your photographer friends.
You can also buy the official 2013 WorldWide Photo Walk t-shirt and help the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. Last year this initiative raised over $10 000; this year the goal is $15 000.
This will be my fifth Worldwide Photo Walk and I look forward to it every year. I catch up with lots of lovely friends and I make a few new ones too. It's a fantastic event and I encourage everyone who has a camera, small or large, basic or pro, to take part.
Some tips for enjoying the day:
Firstly - go. You wont regret it.
Introduce yourself to people. Photo walks are a great way to make new friends.
Stick around afterwards for the coffee or meal get together. It's great to get to know your fellow photo walkers.
Take lots of photos, ask lots of questions and have a heap of fun.
