Sweden's Dalahäst (Darlican Horse), or well, Darlana's Dalahäst needs your help.
I went and visited the Dalahäst recently, and what I've found is that it has been pretty much abandoned. The largest one of it's kind in the world and it has been left to crack and crumble.
The buildings around it that once held tourist shops and attractions are now two clothes stores, a little cafe and a small niche shop. When looking around asking for a souvenir shop (so that I could show my adventures to my friends and shower them with key chains and post cards) I was informed that the souvenirs could be found miles away in town in a tiny store connected to the local library.
Now this is a landmark, and a darn fine one at that. Almost every home in Sweden has a miniature Dalahäst and it is a shame that the tourist centre for this iconic landmark has been abandoned and forgotten.
So I think it's time we reclaimed the love we once had for this symbol and if we get enough people to go and visit this site again, perhaps they'll take the time to move back the tourist shop, fix up the cracks and let this icon stick around for a few more decades for all the tourists and generations to come.
Spread the word and go and take a gander at the world's largest Dalahäst, one of Sweden's famous icons so that the world is reminded just why we have the world's largest Dalahäst to begin with!
