Shave Weekend is here and it's at Federation Square, Cnr Swanston and Flinders Streets, Melbourne CBD on Friday 16 March from 10am to 5.30pm. Join the Leukaemia Foundation staff members and launch the World's Greatest Shave! if the city is a little too far for you to travel, there are other locations to be found on the website. There are two ways you could go; get some funky hair colours or shave your hair completely to help beat blood cancer, for a donation.
However, if you sign up, your shave or colour is free for the day. Get family and friends involved and get sponsored between 14-18 March and raise some money to help fund vital research and to give families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need. You'll be sent a free tips and tools kit and all the support you need to make it a rewarding and unforgettable experience. If you have any questions, email the team or call 1800 500 088!
Bring a group of friends and have some fun while doing a whole lotta good! All the shaved and snipped hair from the event is taken care of sustainably. It's collected by Sustainable Salons Australia and repurposed into the Hair Boom Project and local composting solutions. If you have a ponytail longer than 20cm to donate, fantastic! There are charitable organisations waiting to create wigs for those who have lost their own hair due to their medical condition.
Get shaving! This 20 year old iconic event has a huge purpose you could be a part of. Blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia that claims more lives than breast cancer or melanoma. Leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma are types of blood cancer that can develop in anyone, of any age, at any time. Every 41 mins, 1 person is being diagnosed.
Be an extraordinary Aussie, sign up, and make the most of your hairy sacrifice!
