Have a go - try vegan food at this event
World Vegan Day is celebrated on 1st November each year, and as the name implies, is celebrated throughout the world. The idea behind this day is to raise awareness of veganism and teach people about living cruelty-free by becoming vegans.
Additionally, World Vegan Day is aimed at creating an "informative, warm, friendly and supportive environment for those who are exploring what being vegan is all about."
At this event, there will be many vegan stalls, health and fitness advice, music, children's activities, food and music and you can learn about animal rights, the environment, and more about living a vegan life.
A vegan diet can be a very interesting and tasty diet as I have witnessed by attending a Vegan Fair. The food was fabulous and I was most surprised as I had always thought of a vegan diet as dull and uninteresting. In fact, it was very tasty and a huge variety of foods are able to be eaten. They have many "mock" foods that almost taste like the real thing and I found this food lacked nothing compared to a normal food regime that I follow.
This day will be a FREE event and is aimed at the whole family. This is a great opportunity for all those people who know little, or who would like to know more about the vegan diet and lifestyle. There have been cases of many people becoming vegans after attending this event.
For this event, it will be on at the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale. It will be on 14th October 2018, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.
Some of the main attractions at World Vegan Day include:
Hundreds of exhibitor stalls
Local, Interstate and International guest speakers
More than 50 food and drink stalls
A fitness zone - which will encourage vegans to get more active
A children's activity area
Cooking demonstrations on stage
A fashion show showcasing the latest in vegan fashion

Also of interest is a screening of the film Raw the Documentary at Cinema Nova, 380 Lygon Street, Carlton. This will be a very interesting film and will be on Wednesday 15th November 2018, at 6.30 pm.
The film is a special screening before it gets translated into six other languages with subtitles. It will then be shown in the UK and Europe. It is about a World Record Run around Australia by an Australian couple who are in their 60's. They ate a raw vegan diet, ran 366 consecutive marathons barefooted - an amazing feat!
It also Includes a Q & A with Janette Murray-Wakelin and Alan Murray after the movie. You can get your tickets for $15 at the door.
