Have you ever been to the gym or other exercise classes where one of your assigned exercises was the wall sit or quad burner ? It is a good exercise for building strength and endurance in the glutes, calves and the quadriceps muscle group. Basically, you sit your backside against the wall, hands out straight in front of you and back straight.

On Saturday 19th November 2016, Queensland Urban Utilities is challenging businesses, sporting clubs and schools to enter as an individual or as a team to see how long you can hold on in this position. The person who lasts the longest will win the competition. This is not an easy task.

The reason is to raise money and celebrate . Money is raised to aid the poorest people in the World to have an opportunity to access safe toilets. Having the use of a clean and safe toilet is something most of us never think of, yet approximately 2.4 billion people in our world do not have this basic amenity. It sure is something I have taken for granted as always being available.

Founded on 19th November 2001, The World Toilet Organisation wanted to draw international awareness to the sanitation crisis happening in the world today. After the inaugural summit, the date of 19 November was established to market the problem, gain support and money to improve the impoverished areas.

Water and sewerage provider for Brisbane, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley, Queensland Urban Utilities, is a proud supporter of WaterAid and sponsor for this fun event. The event will be held at The Amphitheater Roma St Parklands between 9.00 and 11.00am.

All participants are encouraged to dress up for the event ; however appropriate footwear is a must. You can enter heats as an individual or a team. There are some great prizes to win as well as free entertainment and activities for the kids. You can also grab breakfast while you are there. To register for the event email [email protected] Cost for the competition is a gold coin.

Even if you are not into exercise, I am sure this will be a fun event with lots of laughter. Go down and cheer on everyone who is entering.
