Celebrate and recognise quality teaching and inspirational teachers this World Teachers' Day.
We all recall our school days and the impacts that teachers have made on our lives. Aiming to provide guidance, inspiration, and support for students' futures is the aspiration of many teachers through education.
World Teachers' Day is celebrated internationally every year on 5 October.
It acknowledges the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) that recognizes education as a key fundamental right and establishes an entitlement to free compulsory education, ensuring inclusive and equitable access for all children.
In Queensland, World Teachers Day events will be held on 27 October 2023 and this year's theme will be
Teaching – Where the Future Begins Did you know that in Queensland there are over 100,000 registered teachers?
Beyond teaching the curriculum, teachers are role models, guides, and champions in helping students achieve their best.
Here's what happening to celebrate the special day:
Lights on Landmarks events will be held in towns and cities across the State ranging from Brisbane right through to Cairns and beyond to honour Queensland teachers
