The
World Science Festival will be held from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th March 2017 with a program packed with exciting local and international scientists and leaders, discussions, interactive workshops and theatrical performances.
The popular festival is back for a second year and will explore four themes: physics and space, oceans, energy and robotics. The event might just spark your curiosity, wonder and creativity.
Here is a selection of the highlights from the program:
The Hatchery – See Loggerhead turtle hatchlings break free from their shells
The Street Science will be held on the weekend from 10am to 4pm in the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank Parklands. Free activities and presentations.
Degas Revealed – Australian scientists revealed the hidden image beneath Edgar Degas' 'Portrait of a Woman
Under the Microscope – Pioneering Women in Science with Emma Johnston, Suzanne Miller and Kerrie Wilson
Full Steam Ahead - a historical steam train through Brisbane
Pioneers in Science with Professor Ian Frazer aimed at high school students
Behind the Scenes at the Queensland Museum
Breakfast sessions, quiz night, panel discussions, a regional program and loads more
The festival will be held at a number of venues in South Brisbane and South Bank Parklands, including the Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Conservatorium, Gallery of Modern Art Cinematheque, The Edge, Queensland Theatre, Festival Lab and ABC Studios.
