Scene of the 1956 Olympic Games rowing and canoeing events the Lake Wendouree rowing course is in regular use, most recently staging the Ballarat Regatta, State Championships and Head of the Lake events.

Managed by the City of Ballarat the facility has undergone a major upgrade, including dredging the course and widening to accommodate 8 lanes, in preparation for the Master's event.

An estimated 10,000 competitors and spectators are expected to descend on Ballarat for the 4 day program which will see individual rowers and crews of 2, 4 and 8 contest a total of 142 races.

Organisers expect the event to inject around $2 million into the local economy.

A leisurely drive from Melbourne the Masters Rowing is perhaps the perfect opportunity to take a picnic and enjoy the magical parks and gardens surrounding Lake Wendouree while witnessing a world-class sporting event.
