There was a time when a trip to the Record Store was about as cool as it could good. Flicking through black vinyl records, selecting t-shirts from favoured artists and talking to the sales attendant about upcoming releases, tours and who was an artist to look out for.

In an age of downloads, the humble record store suffered slightly but fear no more. Let music lovers unite and celebrate World Record Store Day this April and keep the record store experience alive.

Record Store Day started in 2007 when a group of independent record store owners and employees got together to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture of independently owned record stores in the United States and thousands of similar stores internationally.

The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Now, ten years later there are stores on every continent except Antarctica participating in Record Store Day.

As part of the Brisbane celebrations, local artists "Sheppard" will be performing in the Queen Street Mall in the late afternoon on Saturday 21 April 2018. They will also be sticking around to sign posters. Copies of their CDs will be available for purchase.

Why got get along and support your favourite Record Store.
