Free photo exhibition at the Powerhouse
The always stunning World Press Photo returns to the Brisbane Powerhouse in Newfarm this June-July (30 June –23 Juy, 2017), with 45 images across 8 categories on display.
The World Press Photo exhibitions showcases the winning photos by photo journalists, press photographers, and documentary photographers from among 5,000 photographers over 128 countries entered into this year's contest.
This year's overall winning photo is by Australian photographer Warren Richardson whose photo (also the winner of the Spot News category) captures a moment in time of a man and child refugee crossing into Hungary from Serbia.
The 8 categories this year are Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, General News, Long-Term Projects, Nature, People, Sports, and Spot News. Equally diverse are the nationalities of the photographers and their photos covering topics all across the globe.
The 45 images are displayed throughout the foyers of the Brisbane Powerhouse and downstairs in the Turbine Studio.
Situated right beside the river; a visit to the Brisbane Powerhouse and the World Press Photo 2016, would make for a relaxing and thought provoking afternoon. You could combine it with a picnic at New Farm park next door or a relaxing afternoon at Bar Alto or Watt Restaurant or with another event at the Powerhouse.
