World Cancer Day logo: Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)
An initiative of the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC), World Cancer Day is described as a 'truly global event taking place every year on 4 February, [which] unites the world's population in the fight against cancer'. This year, the theme is 'Not Beyond Us'.

Three special events will be held by Cancer Support WA, at 80 Railway Street Cottesloe from 4pm to 9pm, to celebrate the day.

Emptiness and Stillness - Ajahn Brahm 4pm - 6pm Listen to Ajahn Brahm, a Buddhist monk, share his thoughts on meditation and stilling the mind.
Sunflowers represent life and hope, reflecting this year's message that the fight against cancer is not beyond us. Sunflower seeds in balloons will be released at sunset.
Outdoor Movie: About Time 6.30pm - 9pm About Time, a movie about love, life and time travel will be shown on the lawns of Cancer Support WA. Bring your beanbags, chairs, rugs and a picnic dinner. For more information about the movie, click here.
