Check out these unusual workshops and craft lessons
If you like to do unusual hobbies or things that are slightly different to the normal, then read on and look at this list. Unless stated otherwise, all these workshops will be held at 195 Argyle Street, Fitzroy.

Casey Schuurman will be taking this class and Casey is passionate about custom lettering. Casey thinks this art is charming and adds instant handcrafted flair. Brush Script Lettering is a handy tool to have in your repertoire as it has countless styles and can be used in so many ways. This workshop will teach you some custom lettering skills and styles which you will then be able to use for your own projects.

This will be held on 10th March 2019, from 1 pm to 5 pm and will cost $110 to $120. You can make a booking and find out more here.

After the class, you will have a completed custom brush lettering piece as well as knowing how to do this art at home. This hobby can be used for things such as branding, signage, posters, custom stationery, and personal projects.

This is an ancient Japanese art of fabric dyeing and in this class, you will make some unique and involved patterns. Taking the class will be Roz Slade from Be Kind Textiles. You will twist and fold the material and then dip it in a natural indigo vat to dye your creations. After experimenting a bit, you will pick a tea towel or a tote bag to dye and take home.

This event will be held on Thursday 14th March, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The cost will be $80 and you can book and find out more at this link.

Roz will teach you several techniques and also explain the history behind this unusual craft.

Paper marbling is not a workshop that is often held and this one looks very interesting. It will run for 2 hours with Paperazzi Design Studio. The class will cover traditional marbling techniques, including free-form, varied marbling mixtures and material marbling.

It will be held on Sunday 17th March, from 10 am to 1 pm. The cost will be $85 and you can find out more information and book at this link.

You do not need any experience and all materials are included in the price.

If you have any problems with your dog, then consider this the class for you. This class is for man's best friend as well as man (or woman). The aim is to teach your dog and you to be both calm and relaxed and for the dog to fit in with your lifestyle and not vice versa. The aim is to be able to take your dog anywhere and have a well-behaved animal.

This will be on Tuesday 19th March, from 6.30 pm to 8 pm. The cost will be $40 and you can book and find out all the information at this link.

This class will combine the ancient tradition of tantra, which is basically mindful sexuality and modern day science in order to give you more understanding about sexuality.

I have done several courses in ordinary bookbinding and it is a fascinating art. I had great problems finding somewhere to learn it and this class sounds ideal.

This is a workshop with Paperazzi Design studios resident paper artist, Michelle Lackenby. You will be shown binding stitch techniques and also make your own book as practice.

This will be held on Monday 25th March, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The cost will be $90 with all materials supplied, and you can find out more and make your booking at this link.

The techniques covered will include simple Japanese stitch, Japanese stab binding, hemp stitch and tortoise shell binding. This will be great for lovers of old books, which is how I used the knowledge I learnt - to repair damaged books.

Michelle will demonstrate the art of Suminagashi, which is also known as Japanese marbling and you will also make marbling paper.

This promises to be the most exciting life drawing class, where you will learn to experiment in light, colour, and texture. You will enter a surreal area full of UV blacklights and here you will get a complimentary gin and tonic. There will be a life luminous model who you will paint in neon and fluoro art materials.

This surreal event will be held on Wednesday 27th March, from 6.30 pm to 9 pm. The cost will be $45 and you can find out more and make a booking here.

This will be a fun, "phosphorescent and social atmosphere." NEON LIFE is a life drawing session not to be missed!
