The Words on the Waves festival has been running on the beautiful Central Coast across multiple locations throughout the year for the past four years. Whilst its main event runs over the last few days of May and the first few days of June – this year, the 29th of May to the 3rd of June with the program yet to be announced, things are kicking off in March with Words at Wagstaffe on the 16th of March.

Words at Wagstaffe is a one-day literary event, which is held in partnership with Words on the Waves Writer’s Festival and the Bouddi Society – 2024 will be its fourth year, and the theme this year is Truly Criminal. Yes, crime fiction, mysteries, and true crime will be on show this year and an excellent array of guests. Michael Robotham will be attending to sharpen his Golden Dagger with his characters Joe O’Loughlin and Cyrus Haven. Need more than Michael? Then welcome Walkley Award-winning journalist Dan Box as he explores a true story of lies, murder and the Northern Territory.

Local authors are also on show. Meet Central Coast author Sarah Barrie and her delightfully complex and gritty hero Lexi Winter. Or if you’re after a small-town mystery, check out Susan Duncan and her mystery set on Stringybark Bay – don’t miss this criminally good lineup!

Other guests:

- Anna Downes
- Garry Linnel
- Stephanie Jenkins
- Sam Twyford-Moore
- Susan Duncan
- Benny Agius
- Margaret Pomeranz
