The Brisbane Writers Festival has created a special program, Word Play, specifically aimed at young readers and writers in grades 4-10.

Word Play is being held as part of the larger Brisbane Writers Festival program. Held over 3 days and featuring 29 writers and illustrators there is sure to be something for everyone.

The event program is hosted at the State Library of Queensland and will run from 9.45 to 1.30 daily on Wednesday 4th September to Friday 6 September 2013. Participants can choose from 6 different events each day with events segmented into grades 4-5, 6-7 and 8-10.

The festival will feature special guests including Briony Stewart, Garth Nix, Matthew Rielly, Melina Marchetta and Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.

Students outside of Brisbane, or even those that can't make it on the day, can register through their school to take part in the Online Literature Festival which connects the Word Play program with students and educators in classrooms across Queensland.


The Brisbane Writers Festival will also feature a special young adult fiction program as part of the main festival on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2012.
