Brisbane, born and bred.

It's a hot summer day; the sky is blue, the sun is shining. All you want to do is go to the beach but the thought of battling the glitz, glamour and, more specifically, the crowds of the Gold Coast is less than appealing. You don't want to drive too far for your day on the sand, and you want a place with cafes close by. Is this all sounding familiar? If so, say hello to Woorim Beach.

Stretching 30 km along the eastern side of Bribie Island, Woorim Beach is the closest surf beach to Brisbane and makes for an excellent day trip. The beach is protected by Moreton Island, which means the conditions are perfect for kids (and perfect for anyone who has perfected the arts of floating and lolling).

The township of Woorim has cafes, restaurants, shops and a number of accommodation options for those not satisfied with just one day on the beach.

Just think, if you leave right now, you could be soaking up the rays in less than an hour.
