Woolworths NetSetGo is a fun and safe introduction to netball for children aged between 5 and 10 years old.

Children have fun with their friends while developing fine motor skills and learning new netball skills.

Netball is the most popular participation sport for girls in Australia and is fast gaining popularity among boys and men too. The appeal of the sport is broadening with the introduction of walking netball a low-impact option for adults seeking to stay active and boy's leagues.

I'm sure many West Australians have fond memories of growing up with the excitement of Saturday morning sports at the Kingsway and devouring those half-time oranges. Netball is an excellent choice of sports for children and adults to get involved in. It's a team sport that fosters communication and social interaction. Players must work together to reach a common goal. Each player on the team has a different role and position, so players must work together and communicate with one another to defend attack and score goals.

As players cannot move with the ball, they must use a variety of throwing and passing techniques to get the ball to another player on the team and move it down the court towards the team's goal. Players use high and low passes, short and fast passes to move the ball around requiring good coordination skills and fast reactions. There's a variety of positions on the team, some require good cardiovascular fitness and the player to run up and down the court, sprinting and changing positions. There are seven different positions on a team requiring different skills and there are many opportunities to participate in player development programs and get involved in state and national leagues as players develop.

Many girls drop out of sports as they enter their teenage years so netball sporting participation is definitely something to encourage from a young age.

This particular clinic is aimed at younger children who are new to netball. It's also suitable for returning participants. The clinic includes:

- 2.5 hours of fun, friends and NETBALL!

- Learn age-appropriate netball skills and modified games, in accordance with Woolworths NetSetGO.

- World-class facilities at the Gold Netball Centre.

- Accredited Netball WA Community Coaches delivering the program.

- Plus, there are giveaways (a T-shirt and size 4 netball for new players, or a drink bottle and drawstring bag for returning players)!
