The is one of my favourite Harbourside walks and is located in the most beautiful spot, with extraordinary views spanning across the harbour to the city. It is very well signposted and an easy walk. The entrance to the walk is located on Gale Street, Woolwich opposite the Woolwich Hotel and an easy descent through Goat Paddock to the Woolwich Dock, a historic shipyard. You'll skirt around the waterway and pass by The Deckhouse restaurant, where you can stop for refreshments.

From here, it's a lovely scenic stroll through Clarkes Point Reserve and Horse Paddock with stunning views of the city. This is a wonderful spot for a picnic, so you may like to pack one into a backpack and enjoy the serenity and relaxation before continuing. From Horse Paddock, if you continue along Margaret Street and take a left onto Alfred Street, you will come across Kelly's Bush, where the terrain changes from open space to bushland and is another easy walk.

There are some lovely spots throughout here to sit and relax and take in the view. The path is along a raised walkway and natural pathways. This walk will bring you out to Woolwich Road and you can turn right here and walk back towards the entrance to Woolwich Dock and Parklands, where you began or return the same way you came and enjoy the view all over again. The walk from Woolwich through Kellys Bush to Woolwich Road is approximately 3km.

If you take the walk up Woolwich Road, there are some lovely houses and gardens to look at along the way and the street is lined with flowering jacarandas between October and early December and it's very pretty.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead at all times. If you bring a picnic to eat at any of the beautiful locations, please bring a bag that you can pop your rubbish into and dispose of after the walk, as there are not many bins along the walk but it really is worth taking some time out to enjoy a picnic.

There is also the Ironwood Cafe on Woolwich Road to enjoy a pre or post-walk refreshment. So next time you want to escape the city without escaping too far but feeling like you have, try this walk, you will enjoy the spectacular location.
