Recycling our past for our future
I have taken several male friends to this place, usually someone with a ute who I want to collect something for me. When they walk in their eyes light up and they invariably say "I could spend a day here."

Called Wooloongabba Demolitions, it is actually situated on Beaudesert Rd Rocklea, just over the rail overpass on the left outgoing. Most of their stock comes from houses they demolish. One thing I really like is the wood comes denailed! Yeah - that's a rotten job. They also have a huge stock of glass that they will cut to size for you. Prices are very reasonable.

While most of the stock is 'house parts' there is also bric a brac and some books.

Don't you just want to get in and poke about?

If you want anything reno, this is the place to look. Like Op Shops sometimes there's nothing and sometimes there is just what you need. When I say 'nothing' I mean nothing suitable for you on that day. The warehouse and yard is always packed to the ceiling.

I have found quite a few treasures here - the exact bathroom cabinet I'd been searching for for 3 months; a security door; a fabulous brass door handle; a new top for a tap; a gate just the right size and already painted a blue that matched the house nicely.

Luckily this gate was a perfect fit.

I've also seen some gorgeous things that I'd love to buy, but don't have anywhere to put them. e.g. lovely old back doors with stained glass panel and wrought iron gates. This week there are two beautiful wall cabinets.

There are two like this.

Wooloongabba Salvage is men's heaven. You can even fill in an enquiry form advising them what you are looking for. That's a very useful service if you don't live close by.

Doors of every kind.

Windows galore.
