Enjoy the quality food and wine in beautiful surroundings
Woodstock Wine Estate is located at 215 Douglas Valley Road, McLaren Flat, South Australia. It stands out from the other wineries because it has a small wildlife sanctuary with animal feeding available from 11:30-12:00 am every day.
The tasting room is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily and selected wines are available for free tasting. (The friendly host was happy to pose for his photo to be taken). Other wines of choice are available for $10.
The Coterie restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday to Friday and on public holidays, excluding Christmas Day. Lunch is served from 12 noon until 3 pm. There is a selection of cheese platters, sourdough bread and starters.
We ordered chat potatoes, some sort of cheesy flan, coffee and tea. The food was on the expensive side, but truly exotic, with all the extra touches that one expects when one pays for exclusive fare at a quality venue. Main meals start at around $30.
Friday night wood oven pizza is served from 6:30 pm until 10 pm, making a long relaxing evening option available.
Woodstock also caters for weddings. They were setting up for a garden wedding when we were there, so we sneaked around the side and photographed the set-up, which includes white chairs and a decorated arch. Off to the side, a flower decorated frame is available for the bride and groom to stand behind and be photographed. The background of vineyards is very pleasant.
