Not fancy, just nice
Woodside Green is a new cafe in Carlton. It's on the corner of Cardigan Street and Queensberry Street (where Genevieve's Cafe) used to be.

Unassuming from the outside:

Inside, Woodside Green has a rustic, feel.

Note to self: return for cake and coffee.

For under $10, I got the shepherd's pie (on a staff member's recommendation). It was a huge serving and looked and tasted home-made (with heaps of grated carrot throughout). The meat portion was on the salty side, but the mashed potato top tasted unsalted, so it balanced out.

Not fancy, just nice:

For a small place, they've managed to fit a lot of seating inside without it feeling cramped. There's no blaring music or daytime TV playing here. Plants are scattered throughout.

Woodside Green is pretty casual and the menu options can vary. Outdoor seating is available.

Definitely head back for coffee! Best new coffee in Carlton, hands down.

PS. I love their original 70s dinner plate!
