The tournament is run by Australian Pro Poker and the host for the night was Lisa, she created a fantastic atmosphere and made the game very enjoyable. This was the first Poker tournament played here, so the numbers were down with only 10 players sitting at the table.
The venue provides a fantastic menu at reasonable prices. This is only a small tavern but well decorated and a great ambiance. Plenty of parking and the bottle shop is attached. The tournament is free and kicks off at 7:00pm, but get there around 6:00pm and receive an early bird chip up, grab a meal and have a drink - all of which you will get more chips to play with.
You are handed a chip up card upon registration to the tournament. The play begins and the action is almost instantaneous, some great poker is being played with everyone knowing that the prizes to be won will not take to long.
Players slowly fall and plenty of laughter around the table made for a fun evening. Team All-In Dannii is knocked out in third place leaving Dan and Danni-Rhys (not from Team All-In) heads up. We both battle for about seven hands, then we both watch the flop come 6 J 3. and I shove all my chips into the middle, and like a Machine Danni calls me and shows me his J Q.
I reveal my J 5, and all I can do is hope for a 5. Unfortunately it didn't come, making Danni the Tournament champion picking up a $50.00 Voucher for the Tavern and a Australian Pro Poker Cap.
