Watch as racers put their Carts & reputations on the line
Billy Cart Derby's conjure up images of an era long gone, when problems were more simple and life was taken at an easier pace.
The once lost art of billy cart building and racing is making a comeback, with kids putting down their Ipads and Xboxes and opting for fresh air and adventure instead, teaching young children a sense of toughness, a love of the outdoors and mechanical skills.
The annual Woodhill SS Billy Cart Derby is a fantastic family event that helps to raise money for Woodhill State School. This extremely popular family event draws a large crowd to watch the Billy Cart racers compete for the King of the Hill trophy.
Be a part of the crowd lining the roadway as Billy Carts reach hair raising speeds downhill trying to be the best of the best! Hold your breath as racers spin out off the course and crash into the sideline barriers.
If Billy Cart racing isn't adventure enough for you, how about a helicopter ride? Helicopter rides over the Scenic Rim taking in the gorgeous scenery are available on the day at the Derby. Take off from the grounds and watch the races from overhead. There certainly will be something for everyone at this fun family day out.
Adding to the excitement of the day will be heaps of children's rides, market stalls, food vendors and entertainment. The kids will go home with happy smiles and exhausted little bodies to sleep well that night.
The School's dedicated Facebook page will be running regular competitions leading up to the big day and you can check out pictures from previous Billy Cart Derby's to see just how much fun it is!
Woodhill State School is situated 10 mins north of Beaudesert and 10 mins south of Jimboomba, in gorgeous rural surroundings with beautiful views to the mountains. This is the School's biggest fundraiser for the year so come out and support a great community event. There are not many opportunities to see traditional Billy Cart racing so don't miss this opportunity.
