Woodgate Beach is 55km south of Bundaberg and 90 km north of Hervey Bay. It has a 17km long beach which is bordered on the north by Theodolite Creek and on the southern end by the Burrum River.

It is a sheltered, wide, flat beach being protected by Fraser Island, so it is great for swimming and fishing, but not for surfing. At low tide, it is even great for riding bikes.
Even though there are several boat ramps at Woodgate Beach, most fisherman launch their boats straight off the beach.
There is beach access for four-wheel drive vehicles at the southern end of town.

The village has a permanent population of approximately 1,000 people, but that more than doubles in holiday times.
Woodgate Beach has been untouched by commercialism. There are only a couple of small shops to buy essentials, but that is it. It is a perfect place to stay if you want an old-fashioned, family fun holiday.
It is a great spot to take your dogs as well, as two-thirds of holiday properties are pet-friendly. There are two leash free areas at each end of the beach where your dogs can run for miles and explore the shallow water at low tide.

Great spot for you fur babies too
The most popular holiday homes and units are on the Esplanade, where you can step out your front door, cross the road and walk straight onto the beach.
If you prefer to walk on solid ground, then there is a lovely paved path that meanders its way along the esplanade under the shade of the sheoak trees. The path is great for bikes and scooters as well.

You can try great family meals at the Woodgate Beach Bowls Club or at the Woodgate Beach Hotel.
As well as holiday homes and units there is a large, well-equipped caravan park right in the middle of town.
