Nestled next to Doonside in Sydney's west is the little village of Woodcroft and its lake festival once a year brings together its various cultures through song, dance and music. Part of Blacktown City Council, the fun-filled day includes a wide variety of entertainment and activities for all.

With free entry, you can enjoy pet shows, food challenges, competitions, amusement rides, martial arts, markets and craft stalls, amongst a full program from 10am-4pm. Set by the lake, a number of delicious food stalls will also be onsite with a range of options to entice your taste buds.

A beauty pageant competition is open to local girls aged 5-12years (Little Miss Woodcroft) and 13-19years (Miss Teen Woodcroft), giving them the opportunity to participate in a friendly and fun event with the possibility of making new friends, whilst the Woodcroft's Got Talent competition is a show featuring local amateur singers, dancers and magicians of all ages.

Showing off talent is big here and pets can get in on the act as well. Residents can bring their dogs, cats and other animals with special abilities to display their skills for all to enjoy.

If you love your food you might want to roll up at 1pm and join the pizza eating challenge and show your talent here by throwing caution to the wind, chowing down to prove you're worthy of becoming king or queen of pizza eating. Entry (must be over 18yrs) is a gold donation to charity and you can register on the day. Pizza Hut are generously providing the pizzas.

NSW SES Blacktown and Plumpton Rural Fire Brigade will put on an interactive display this year to promote storm, flood and tsunami safety. There will be a rescue simulation on the lake as well as a display of boats and mascot Paddy Platypus (popular with young audiences) will be roving around.

Various dance groups and art theatre fill out the program of entertainment. All fun rides, ponies and a trackless train are free, making for an inexpensive day out.

So gather your tribe and head down to the lake to celebrate.
