Do you have an inner creative streak, but you've tried all the local paint and sips, knitting and crocheting courses, and don't know what to try next? Well, how about wooden spoon carving!

At Wood Tamer you can carve out your very own cooking or serving spoon. You can make it unique in style (I ill-advisedly gave mine a moustache), make it shaped to fit your hand perfectly for when you're making your next pasta sauce or sheet of cookies or create a classic salad spoon as a gift.

The class is set in what can only be described as a woodcarver's man-shed, it is stocked to the brim with wood, carving tools of all sizes, kits, and everything and anything you would need to pick up this hobby.

One of the best things in my opinion about this class is that you get to try something completely new and also get a practical object out of the experience at the end! It does take quite a while, and there is always the risk of getting a few nicks and cuts, but all-in-all you can really get zoned out whilst whittling away your spoon and the time seems to fly by.

Plus of course, you can attend this class with friends, or meet someone new, and the teacher is always there to assist in your carving journey. Everything you need is provided to you at the beginning of the day, well except for lunch, but there is a little fridge and kitchenette to the side of the classroom that you can use.

If you decide that you absolutely adore carving spoons and you want to get more into wood crafts, lucky for you the Wood Tamer website stocks all the carving tools and products that you could possibly need and more.

You can check out all the carving classes (ranging from beginner to advanced), and there are even classes suitable for kids, which is a great school holiday or birthday party activity.

Costs
The classes range from $150 per person to $220 per person, but you are provided with hours of hands-on expertise guidance, all the tools required, and you get to keep your spoon at the end!

Location
Wood Tamer Workshop
Wamberal, Central Coast NSW

Details
The beginner spoon carving class takes 5 hours (starting at 9am), with a break for lunch. There is a little fridge on site if you want to keep your food cold, as it is strongly recommended to bring your own lunch with you.
