There is something special about wood. It can be extremely light or incredibly strong, It can used unfinished or formed into shapes to meet our needs. Yet wood always manages to give a warm natural feel to the eye and our touch.
At QUT's art museum's WOOD: art design architecture exhibition you will see all of this and more. From tables made of ancient red gum pulled out of the ground to modern flexible lamps, from found art works through to highly sculpted forms, you will experience what contemporary artists and designers are doing with wood.
While some of the design elements such as chairs and book shelves can seem a little humdrum overall they are brought together to provide an overview of wood as a material that has spanned human history in its use and is still relevant today's contemporary world where we need to balance the man made and natural.
