Whether you're a confirmed car enthusiast or you just like shiny things, the 2020 Wonthaggi Car Swap Meet and Show and Shine is for you. Escape the city and make your way to nearby Wonthaggi for this annual event. This family-friendly show will feature custom cars, hot rods, motor bikes, off-road vehicles and a car boot sale. Breakfast and lunch will be available from the food stalls.


Be amazed at the variety of makes and models on display. Wander past modern cars and those of yesteryear. Marvel at the artistic designs the owners used to adorn their pride and joy; dancing flames, coloured ribbons, interesting insignia and more. Look inside vintage cars and be surprised at their Spartan simplicity.


Walk along a line of motorbikes that follow the curve of the oval-like, well-trained sentinels. I took great pause last year at the sight of a magnificently preserved 'Indian' and could not help but think of the old movie The World's Fastest Indian starring Anthony Hopkins.


I'm no petrol head but I do appreciate the lines of a classy car and have a special liking for vintage and veteran automobiles. I like the clunky yet rounded lines of them, the heavy stylised grills and hood ornaments crafted like mini statues. There is always plenty to see.


The hot rods are in a class all of their own. Some have a cartoon-like shape to them as though they might have emerged from the Disney movie, Cars.

Competition cars, shined to such a glare as to occasion- a need for sunglasses will be judged with winners announced at 12.30.


If its parts you want, you'll find plenty of those here too along with car memorabilia and often some surprising items which might have nothing to do with automobiles at all.

The event is hosted by Wonthaggi Power Football and Netball and is a major fundraiser for the club. The Wonthaggi Power Football and Netball Club provides an opportunity for the youth of Wonthaggi and district to compete at the highest level available in their sport. The club aims to provide coaching and training facilities to improve players. It is an important part of the Wonthaggi community.


The 2020 Wonthaggi Swapmeet and Show and Shine will be held on Sunday 26th January at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, Korumburra Road, Wonthaggi, (between Strickland Street and Wentworth Road.) Gates open at to the public at 8am. Gates open at 6am for stallholders and exhibitors. Competition cars to be entered before 9.30am. Click here to access the website for more information. Wonthaggi is around an hour and three quarters from the Melbourne CBD, along the South Gippsland and Bass Highways.
