If you're looking for five star service or decor from this century, then it this is not the place. From the inside it looks very dated, but this goes with Bentley in general. We're not in Claremont any more Toto. If you want fast and cheap Asian food, then it could be what you're looking for.
Upon getting seated I was greeted by a busy waitress and took my place. I received a menu and my order was taken 5 minutes later. About another 5-10 minutes later the food arrived. That's pretty brisk service in my books.
I ordered the two meat and rice combination. With roast pork and chicken. The chicken was fine, not overcooked and moist to taste, but the pork was more the standout. Tender roast pork with barbeque sauce including some tasty bonus crackling. Not exactly healthy, but who doesn't love crackling that isn't vegan/vegetarian?
The rice was a little bland though and way too much of it. Also the miso soup was okay, but I've certainly had better. The only other gripe I had was when asking for water, you had to help yourself from the fridge at the front of the restaurant. Really Wong Hawkers?
Would I eat here again? Yes, and I have. It was $10 all up and that's value as far as I'm concerned. Not a place to bring a date to or a family dinner, but more a quick stop lunch destination.
It's not miso soup. Miso soups are generally served at japanese restaurants. Although i cant confirm what soup they serve at Wong's as i haven't been there myself but restaurants like that would normally serve clear chicken soup or vegetable soup. Just plain basic soup to accompany your meal.
Most establishments like this one (cheap and fast), provide free water. Just like a lot of cafes that charge top dollar for their coffees, you have to pour and grab the water yourself if you want it.
Like you said, it's not a five star establishment.
