This is truly a fisherman's paradise... Located near Eden, far New South Wales and before the Victorian border Wonboyn Lake lays with all its glory and with a reputation second to none for some of the finest lake, estuary, beach and land based game fishing on the coast, it will be foolish not to hook that line at this lake!

Wonboyon Lake from the carpark...
There is a good tidal flow at the lake entrance, where boats can cross the bar into Disaster Bay for some of the best blue water fishing in Australia. Alternatively, you can launch from Quarantine Bay, this is located a short drive from the highway towards Eden.
The lake itself winds for a ten kilometre course before it meets a fairly narrow channel into the sea at Disaster Bay.
Be taken aback with the great abundance of fish that call this lake home. Wonboyn Lake is renowned for its huge flathead and catches of bream, luderick, whiting, jewfish, trevally and tailor.

Look at what we spotted...
The excitement does not stop there... from the beach, tailor, bream, salmon and whiting are all rewarded to the angler and the backwaters of the Wonboyn Lake is dotted with oyster...
Not uncommon off the rocks and at sea are catches of snapper (mostly pinkies), several varieties of wrasse, drummer, gurnard, gummy and other sharks.

The Jetty at the Lake...
At both ends of Disaster Bay you are welcomed to a small but yet secluded picnic area, making the perfect rest spot or a romantic lunch spot.
As you travel down the lake you will discover untouched beaches, deserted sand hills, dingos roaming the land and dolphins playing around in the waters...

One of the many views at the Lake...
Wonboyn Lake attracts both families and serious anglers and of course lovers of the great outdoors, and it is completely understandable why this piece of haven is popular, but yet unspoiled.
There is plenty of accommodation nearby and boats can be hired too.
