Understanding common health concerns and discovering possible new natural treatment strategies, is the aim of a program of talks by Gold Coast Health Professionals. Ladies are encouraged to attend a Wellness Series, throughout 2013, which will focus on common women's health issues. If you are interested in natural treatments, this varied and educational program may just be what you have been searching for.

The series has been put together by Dr. Kate Shapland, a Gold Coast Integrative GP, with 25 years experience and Rita Teixeira a Naturopath/ Homeopath, both of whom are committed to:

"Bridging the gap of communication between complementary health care and modern medicine".

If you are interested in the complex involvement of hormones and mental health, don't miss the talk on Fri 31 May. It provides information on endocrine disruptors. Many toxins are found in our environment and some have been shown to mimic the action of hormones and interfere with the inner workings of our cells. Attend the talk to find out more.

In addition to the Wellness Series, Dr. Kate Shapland works with Pani Hogan, an Energy Therapist & EFT Practitioner and the result of their collaboration is a therapeutic program called "Index 2 Empowerment". The program focuses on helping people expand their minds and lives, using EFT.

What is EFT? EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and is a self-help system for getting rapid physical and emotional relief. It's also known as Tapping and is a specialized form of acupressure. Tapping on acupressure meridian points (there are no needles involved) gently "short circuits" negative or painful emotions, whether physical, emotional or spiritual. EFT has been successfully used by Tapping experts to help trauma victims involved in The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shoot out in Newton, Connecticut, USA and also with the Boston Marathon Bombing. There are many references to its use with cyclone and tsunami disasters. Some war veterans have found the technique extremely empowering. For more info visit the website of the original founder of EFT Gary Craig.

Topics already tackled in 2013 include: "Procrastination" & "Fear of Success". The "Dealing with Grief & Loss" workshop will take place on Friday 7th June, 2013.

Both the Wellness Talks and the Index 2 Empowerment program talks are open to women of all ages and from all walks of life. Each session costs $20 and Morning Tea is included. The venue is the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall (62 Railway Street, Mudgeeraba). Talks start at 10am and finish at 12 noon. Bookings are required and can be made by contacting Kerry on:
(07) 5525 2211.

"Knowledge is Power" so go along and listen if you are interested in finding natural solutions to common health issues. Empowering yourself is very liberating and will hopefully lead to a new, healthier you.
