Beautiful Meditation Night

I recently attended a women's circle led by international belly dancer and therapist Fernanda Reschke. I wasn't sure what to expect and l found it to be an incredibly powerful and transformational experience.

The space was so beautiful and sacred, lit by candlelight and soft cushions that created a space of welcome and ease. The group was small, a maximum of 8 women, so it is a welcoming and safe space.

The circle began by introducing ourselves and sharing what was going on for us in that moment.

I wasn't sure if the evening would be spent talking, but it turned out to be an evening of movement and connection.

How often are you really present in your body and focused on the moment, not the past or the future? Fernanda's circle gives us an opportunity to do just that. The belly dance movements help to open the mind and keep you in the present moment. The rhythm of the drums was intoxicating and really helped ground the body and the mind.

Fernanda would do a new movement and share how that movement was related to fire, earth, wind or air. I had never thought about movement that way and it was a very interesting concept that made a lot of sense.

At times we moved into freestyle movement which was also really nice to feel free and express yourself.

As Fernanda says, " Circles with a sacred centre are ancient, the oldest form of social interaction. Women have been gathering in circles since the beginning of time to share experiences, stories, thoughts, ideas and prayers."

Fernanda is a highly trained and accomplished belly dancer who has performed all over the world. She is a certified therapist and Women's Facilitator, so she is able to hold space for the women's circle and create a sacred welcoming environment. Go here to learn more about Fernanda.
