There are two bike workshops being run by the
City of Darebin and
Darebin Leisure for the locals of Darebin who live, work or study in the municipality. It'll boost your on-road bike riding confidence so you can commute with your children or on your own and enjoy keeping fit at the same time. Both events meet at the
Rear Carpark of the Darebin Arts Centre, Corner Bell Street and St Georges Road, Preston on the following dates and times for the separate events which are
for people who already know how to ride a bike.
Please note these workshops will be run in accordance with all applicable and current State Government COVID-19 restrictions and requirements.
For both events, the first part of the training will take place in a traffic-free area before taking part in a ride on local roads to put what you're learned into practice. You'll learn how to plan your route; the rules relating to bike riding, defensive riding techniques, road positioning, navigating intersections and roundabouts, riding with trams and more at these workshops. You'll find more details on the website when you register. You need to be an 18 plus adult to register for these courses.
Make sure the bicycle you bring is in good condition with working brakes, a bell and pumped up tyres. Wear a well-fitting bicycle helmet, comfortable closed-toe footwear, weather protection, a bottle of water and afternoon tea and snacks. It's not necessary to bring your ticket on the day. If you're not a rider and would love to learn how to ride a bike, you could consider the
One-On-One Bike Training Workshop .
