Premiere production by a new theatre group in Adelaide

Oily Rag Theatre is an exciting new theatre group in Adelaide, run by Kristin Telfer and Shannon Norfolk.

Oily Rag Theatre's premiere production is Wolf Lullaby by Hilary Bell, which will play at the Holden Street Theatres for a strictly limited season this May (6 performances only). Tickets are now on sale.

Kristin and Shannon met many years ago and have staged several shows together, mostly with the former Spotlight Theatre Company and Moore Books SA. Following the success of Ariel Dorfman's Death and the Maiden, which Kristin directed and Shannon designed with the assistance of Moore Books SA in 2017, Kristin and Shannon decided to form their own group with a focus on producing thought-provoking and entertaining shows on, well, the smell of an oily rag!

With their premiere production, Kristin will direct and Shannon will design, and they share production duties. The cast includes talented local actors Heather Crawford, Lyndon Cullen-Reid, Shannon Gray and Damien White.

Inspired by real events, Hilary Bell's Wolf Lullaby is a dark psychological thriller which explores parental responsibility and the 'nature versus nurture' debate, and asks the audience to consider what they would do if they suspected a loved one of an unthinkable crime.

A young boy is found dead in a popular children's play spot and suspicion quickly falls on nine-year-old Lizzie Gael. Local policeman Ray is already set against Lizzie following a recent shoplifting incident. Her father Warren is outraged at what he perceives as a witch hunt against his daughter. But her mother Angela is torn between her natural instinct to protect her child and a growing fear that Lizzie did the deed. Lizzie herself can only give increasingly strange and contradictory accounts of her movements on the day in question, and wakes up screaming from nightmares in which a menacing "wolf" looms out of the darkness to devour her.

Don't miss this stellar production of Wolf Lullaby! Performances will be held on 3 May at 7.30 pm, 4 May at 8 pm, 5 May at 8 pm, 10 May at 7.30 pm, 11 May at 8 pm and 12 May at 8 pm.
