If you want a relaxing, yet fun, day outdoors then Wittunga Botanic Garden is the perfect place to go on that warm summer's day.

This really is the perfect place for anyone, young or old, and with the duck pond also homing turtles this will really be a beautiful day out with the family and great fun for the kids, they will just love feeding the ducks.

It is free entry and there is a convenient car park right out the front, all there is to do now is bring along a picnic rug and some sandwiches and your day will be perfect in it's simplicity.

There are walking trails taking you the whole way around the garden and to other ponds where friendly ducks will happily take your bread, straight out of your hand if you're patient enough.

If you are a nature freak you will love the beautiful birds and the exotic Australian and South African plants and shrubs.

There are a number of gazebos located in the garden with chairs and a table in each if you feel like a more formal picnic, but if you're anything like me, a rug on the grass under the trees watching the ducks being fed is just magic.

These friendly ducks aren't scared of getting up close and personal.

Located in Blackwood, it's close enough to Westfield Marion if you feel like a good shop afterwards and only 20 minutes out of the CBD.

Trading hours on weekdays are 8:00am till 4:00pm and 10:00am till 5:00pm on weekends. So go and spend the day in this tranquil estate and you will really feel what it's like to relax.

I'm sure that park is lovely, but there's something you and your children should know: Bread is terrible for ducks. Please consider this the next time you go to a park, or write an article about it.
