As the temperatures start to drop across the capital, as they always do at this time of year, it's easy to stay inside where it's nice and warm and avoid going outdoors except for when it's absolutely necessary. Except there are so many wonderful things to experience outside in winter including Wintervention.
This event which is organised by the City Renewal Authority, will bring all the best things about winter to Canberra. Wintervention will feature many of the things that remind me of a European winter including an ice skating rink, food, drinks and markets. The event will be running every day from Friday 25 June until Sunday 11 July.
The rink is open 10am to 8pm Sunday to Thursday (last session at 7pm), and 10am to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays (last Session at 8pm) every day during the event. Ticket prices for the ice rink are as follows: Toddler 4yrs and younger $10 Child 5-14 years $15 Adult 15 yrs and above $20 Family (2 adults/2 child or 1 adult 3 child) $49
There will also be live music daily to add to the atmosphere. On the weekends, a number of food vendors will be onsite selling their yummy products including D Donuts, Tikka Stand, Fares Bueller, La Empanada, Neat St. Coffee and Big River Distilling, Pop Inn Wine Bar and Underground Spirits. There will also be a number of market stallholders on the weekends, some of the stallholders include Little Thing Bling, Essens Gems, Humming Bird Vintage, Lisa's Clothing and Dreambolic Art.
