This July, Victoria Park will combine their popular
Playground Professors children's festival with their 10th birthday celebrations and host A Winter's Day Festival. Held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from noon until 6pm, A Winter's Day Festival will feature something for kids of all ages, even the big ones.
Free children's activities include a petting zoo, balloon artist, jumping castle, rock climbing, face painting, and a puppet show from Kiddywinks Puppet Theatre. Kids can also take part in a lantern making workshop at 3pm, but spaces are limited to thirty so get in early.
Grownups will enjoy the live music, market stalls, and chef cook-off. Hourly entertainment kicks off at noon with the following line-up: The Lucky Ones, BB Le Buff, Spankinhide, Sarah Collyer, and Gypsy Loco. Meander the market bazaar featuring a variety of stalls, including multiple food and drink stalls. Catch the Chef Cook-Off hosted by Richard Champion (Brisbane Lions legend) at 1:30 pm; as two local chefs compete to prepare the winning dish with only six to eight ingredients.
Street performers and roaming acrobats will entertain throughout the day; including the Street Parade at 4:30pm which will wind its way through Victoria Park's picturesque grounds to the central stage.
Entry to A Winter's Day Festival is free. Victoria Park Golf Complex and Function Venue is located at 223 Herston Road in Herston.
