I'm no shopaholic, and I'm not much into consumerism, but I think that the designers have done a beautiful job on the redevelopment of the city's Wintergarden shopping complex, which re-opened last week.
The black plastic has come off the Wintergarden's exterior, revealing a massive frieze of coloured butterflies and twisted branches stretching across its facade. No doubt some won't like it, but I enjoyed the swathe of colour that it added to the mall. (My photo doesn't fully do it justice; up close, the colours were delicate and lovely.)
Inside was gorgeous too, with lots of light and delicate shadows making pretty patterns on the food-court floor.
Oh, and there are also some interesting shops that you won't find elsewhere in Brisbane (e.g. Camper). The redevelopment is definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in town.
