The annual Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair returns on the first weekend of July at a brand new location in the historic Hawkesbury region.
Now in its 11th year, Winterfest is Sydney's longest-running annual medieval fair and this year families can look forward to a jam-packed program filled with interactive displays, hands-on activities and a fabulous line-up of entertainment at Hawkesbury Showground.
Explore all things medieval and historic in a vibrant community setting - highlights include:
Complementing the entertainment program is an exciting range of hand's on activities which allow visitors to get up close to customs, clothing and many other aspects of medieval daily life. Don't miss the Reenactors, who will bring along armour and helmets for you to try on; Feldergast the Fool - Winterfest's resident juggler, trickster, magician and all round festive Jester; interactive Celtic drumming and medieval handcrafts workshops; Medieval Archery; Kids' Corner with medieval themed colouring-in drawings and free face painting; Winterfest's always-popular Unicorns; Knights School where children can wield a sword and shield; Merchants' Row; 'The Mews' animal display; Medieval history shows and Artisan Alley, home to leather and wood-workers, armourers, costumers and many more talented artisans.
Plus the immersive environment of Winterfest extends to a medieval-themed Cosplay competition. All eventgoers are invited to wear something a bit different from the usual. Get in touch with your inner orc, dwarf or elf and come along in a medieval-inspired outfit or fantasy-style clothing; all periods, cultures, and styles are welcome. Cosplay will be in a category of its own, with other costumes in a different category.
With so much to do, explore and discover, Winterfest is the ultimate Winter school holiday family experience! It is sure to captivate children and adults alike.
