Throwback to the days of cloaks and daggers
Step back in time with this extravaganza in Western Sydney that features jousting, combat and arms displays, traditional archery, equestrian skills at arm, a birds of prey display and many more activities over two days. Experience history and what life was like in medieval times.
A clash of swords will entertain and teach
Some of the best competitors from around the world will descend on Parramatta for the Tournament Joust, Knights of Winterfest, a spectacle not to be missed. Cheer on your favourite knight as they did in times of old and immerse yourself in this period event.
Various performance groups will have the crowd gasping. A clash of swords will entertain and fair goers will learn of customs, costumes and armour. Re-enactments aim to teach history and promote values of fair play, honour and chivalry.
Try your hand at archery or go 'orc' hunting in the archery range. What is this, you ask? An orc is a mythical creature, akin to a goblin, and hunting them is a fantasy race. If you want something more down to earth, then perhaps watch the blacksmith hammering away or take on Celtic dancing.
Merchant's Row will please shoppers and those wanting some traditional bites to eat. A wealth of treasures await with medieval jewellery, historical clothing, fairies and fantasy items, arts and crafts, and more. There should be something for everyone in these old-fashioned stalls and tents.
Roving entertainment, kids' games and activities, will keep the whole family busy. This is all on at The Parade Ground of the Old King's School in Parramatta. Entry is from Marsden St, just down from Prince Alfred Park, next to the Riverside Theatre and on the banks of the Parramatta River.
